Last season was full of dominance by Las Vegas. The Aces steamrolled their opponents and didn’t face much resistance en route to winning the title. The hiring of head coach Becky Hammon has also already paid off big time.

New York is going to be a lot better in 2023 than last season. Sabrina Ionescu, the first overall pick in the 2020 draft, has the makings of a superstar. In 2022, she also had a breakout season after averaging 17.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game.
It’s also evident that the front office in New York wants to win now. The Liberty added several talented players during the offseason. The most notable signing is Breanna Stewart, a former MVP and two-time WNBA champion.
2021 MVP Jonquel Jones was another high-profile player that just joined New York. Jones is still in her prime, having played only six seasons in the WNBA. Veteran point guard Courtney Vandersloot, who spent 12 years in Chicago, also joins New York this year.
With three players of such a caliber arriving in New York, there won’t be any excuses for the Liberty. They have all the pieces in place to win right now. New York should be a worthy challenger for Las Vegas this upcoming season.
